I am making a quilt for our Heber Valley Civil War and Living History Weekend and I need your input. This pattern is called Simple Star and I chose this pattern because the Confederate unit of our civil war group is part of the 4th Texas Company 1 regiment. Since Texas is the lone star state, I am making this star quilt as part of a prize in our live shoot competition.
I have all the blocks made, and last night I laid them out in 4 different ways. I need to know which one is more pleasing to the eye and which one you like. So the first two pictures are the same but the inside center square is different - one is dark and one is light. The first two have black as an accent and the large square outline is blue.

The third and fourth are similar, once again just the center square is changed - one light and one dark. The third and fourth pictures have blue as an accent and black making up the large square outline.

I like them all!! But since I have to pick only one I would say..... #1!!
I like #4. They are all beautiful.
I'm not much help because I'm terrible at decisions like this, but I do think #2 is my least favorite-- I like the light or dark middle the best.
I agree with Emiko,,,I like number 1 the best,,,,The star in the middle seems to stand out more in this one.
Hi there!
I really like #1. They're all pretty; but I think #1 "pops" a little better than the rest. :) That'll be so pretty when it's done!

I like #4
Probably not very helpful, but I like #1 & #4. (I can't decide)
ok,. couldn't decide --but I think I like #3 the best dp
#2 is my favorite. I like the tan color in the middle best, it really brings out the star!

Now I like #3 better!
I like Number One. But it is little known fact that since Texas was a territory (before statehood) It is a crime for Boys regardless of age to wear dresses. Since Emmitt is a minor they will come down on you!! I would be very carefull about giving a blanket to the 4th Texas Company 1 regiment with a small BOY in a dress at my feet. They have weapons and they do know how to use them. Please don't get your self hurt by MAKING your SON wear a dress.

#3. I like the contrast of the center of the star and the lighter color sandwiching the star points. I also like the dark and light half square triangles in the corner.
What did you decide? You really can't go wrong with any of the layouts. Good Luck!
I vote #1!
