I was raised in a home where you slept in your own bed. I hate to admit it, but our home is not that way. Matt was raised in a home where you slept where you fell, just kidding, but almost. I guess we are inheriting or becoming a true Crane home, against ALL my 'everything has a place including my children' mentality.
This is my family last night and this is where they stayed until morning. For Matt that was 6:00 and for the girls it was 7:35. I took this picture on my way to bed. It just about killed me to leave the girls out there, I wanted to take them to their own beds. When I talked to Matt today, he said he loved sleeping out there with the girls, the Christmas lights, and the fire. Does it mean I am getting old and soft because I am caving in on something I thought I would never do? I AM getting old and I AM getting soft -that is for sure. I am almost 6 months pregnant and VERY soft! The girls had a great time sleeping out there, I should be happy they fell asleep so quick and stayed so warm!

They do look quite cozy.It looks fun.
I used to move them to their own beds until I couldn't pick them up anymore. I used to even walk them in their sleep to their beds. I still don't understand why they don't like to sleep under sheets. Oh well, I feel sorry for their spouses. I tried--their spouses will have to retrain them.

You know, sometimes the couch IS the coziest place in the house... Adorable photo...and by the way, you probably had a good night sleep without sick kids in your bed! :)
very cute & cozy picture!
I am the same way as you! You should sleep in your bed! But they do look cozy, and it's always good to get a "treat" like that.
WAIT WHAT????? YOUR'RE PREGANANT????? Good thing I read your blog all the way through because I would have never known, lol. BTW-was this your announcement or did I miss it? That is adorable. Mark always wants to put the tent up in the front room and camp out. All I can think of is selfish things like, what if they get up for the day at 5am? Whose going to clean it up after Mark goes to work? Will I have to deal with cranky kids the next day because they didn't sleep well? So kudos to you. Hope you got a good night sleep!
I am fine with my husband sleeping in the front room, because he has the terrible habit of watching TV until he falls asleep. I on the other hand, like your other post, do not like to watch TV and do not go to sleep very well with it on. Then I find myself waking up and mad mad mad that I can't find the remote because he is GONE to the world and I would be except I keep hearing the latest infomercial on the TV!
If they have planned a movie sleep out night then I leave them, if not I take them to their beds. Jack goes by himself, he like me loves his bed. I do like Brian in bed with me when the TV is off, and as long as he doesn't mess up the covers!
BTW did you fix Kelseys covers before you went to bed? They are not straight????
My feelings are if they were asleep and were warm and safe let them sleep. Can't see the harm in a little sleep on the sofa or on the hard floor. or even six in a bed on the floor like we did at Grandma Ackerman's some times. Three at the top and three at the bottom with feet in between.. what great fun and memories..
There is nothing wrong with sleeping where you fall. My children usually sleep in their beds, but that 10% time, like when they fall asleep earlier than normal watching a movie, that I just let them go. If they are fine, I am fine. If they arent' fine, they'll move to their beds. If they can't, then they will cry and I will move them to their beds. Don't sweat the small stuff, it's all good!
