I learned more about Jesus Christ today spending my time in the Primary than I have in a long time.
I was asked last week to subsitute for a primary teacher that teaches the 7 and 8 year olds. I was pretty much dreading it all week. I haven't served in the Primary since Kelsey was 4 months old. It has never been my favorite place, little kids scare the heck out of me!
But today was good. I had 6 boys today that were 7 years old and they were pretty good. I guess after having kids, you learn to get them to do what you want them to. Anyway, class was great, the best part though was closing exercises with all the kids 3 to 12 years old. A four year old boy named Seth perfectly recited a scripture that melted my heart, a 3 year old boy Gage, gave the cutest 2 minute talk about the plan of salvation that made me smile, and then three year old Emma was too embarrased to say the closing prayer.
So sweet, I loved watching and listening to those kids. It made my Sunday that I was completely dreading. I felt the spirit of Christ more strongly than I have in a long time at church, just sitting there among the children on a little chair in the Primary room.

Isn't it amazing how much those little ones can teach us. They are such sweet little spirits. Glad you had a good experience. Maybe you will get a calling putting you in there full time!

No no no, no calling, just a little visit every now and then will work out perfect!!

I've not had very much experience in Primary either. Those kids are so smart! It is amazing how just a one or two sentence prayer or comment, said so sincerely can be so uplifting. Glad you had a good time.

Ok-sorry my comment is not going to be gooey-ooey-sweet! When I did my 1.5 year stint in the primary as a Sunbeam teacher(yes, it was a former life) I hardly ever had a spiritual experience. I had 3 year olds that were the spawn of the devil, or else they had to ask questions that were only suitable for mommies. All I received was a good dose of birth control every week! Kids are sweet--but not when you are locked in a room for an hour with 8 (8 active, 12 on the roll) 3 year olds by myself!

I didn't expect gooey from you Tori. But you would have agreed with me that it was much better than sitting in the adult class falling asleep while someone reads the entire manual to you. Much better.

I actually loved the last few months after the huge class went on to torment another innocent teacher. I had 2 little boys, one was recently adopted from Guatamala and didn't know any English and the other was the cutest blond mullet boy who though he was a Jedi knight, so we just worked on our English skills and light saber maneuvers!!

Oh Tori,,,, You make me giggle.
No matter how serious you try to be, your posts always brings a smile to my face.

Thats what it is all about, saber maneuvers and love. Good job girl, whether you want it or not. She makes me giggle too mom. I can imagine her in her dress in a little classroom on a little chair working with the Jedi and learning English.

I'm loving the testimony posts my friends have been posting. Maybe it's because I feel like my education level in the gospel is Primary level, but I learned more while serving a year there than any other position.
