Complete and total plant nerd post

When I worked at Garland Nursery in Corvallis, Oregon back in 2000 and 2001, I received a hoya plant as a gift. I was given one, or maybe I bought it at the nursery, and after I took it home, it was soon sick. My friend Beth looked at, cringed, threw it away and gave me hers. Beth's plant was a tiny little plant, with only 3 leaves or so and about 1 1/2 inches long. Beth was so sweet to give me hers because hers was a specific variety of hoya, it is called a Kris Kringle Hoya. It has this name because the leaves are all crinkled up.

I still have Beth's Kris Kringle Hoya. It sits in my kitchen window. Since Corvallis is has been to Cortez, Colorado, Midway, and here at my house now. It now has a few branches that are a foot or so long and it is very happy. So happy in fact it is flowering right now. The flowers are so fun and delicate and they are fuzzy to boot. It is so pretty to me for some reason, I guess because I have never seen anything like it. I also have an African Violet start in my bedroom that Beth gave me and it is very happy too. Thanks Beth, where ever you are!

That is pretty, Rachel. It is cool you are a plant nerd. I wish I was. I am a plant serial killer. If Gary didn't take care of our (green plants) up on otop of our cabinets, they would have been long gone.

I am going to be a plant nerd again someday. In college I had tons of different varieties of plants. Another time, different place in life, for indoor plants, at least we have the great outdoors.
