Some of you know that our Kendal is labeled by the early intervention folks as "an oral sensory seeker." This morning after she got the best of 3 scrambled eggs, I gave her a nickel sized piece of ice, just to see what she would do with it. She put it in her mouth, spit it right back out, did the sign for "HOT" and stuck it back in her mouth and smiled. Then she proceeded to chomp it right up. Like 4 chomps and it was gone! So I gave her another and another and she was making such quick work of those ice cubes, now full sized, I just had to laugh at her. She loved it. So, they say that adults that chew ice are oral sensory seekers, but have evolved from toddler-piranha stage of chewing on EVERYTHING to adult-ice chompers and sunflower seed chewers. Now you all know! Go label all the adults that drive you absolutely crazy by chomping ice in your ears as ORAL SENSORY SEEKERS!
This picture is so cute. While we were down to Capitol Reef over the weekend, we found a tree that had littered a bunch of leaves on the ground. Kendal promptly laid down and smiled. I made her do that exact thing for some fall pictures I took of her a month ago.

I must be and oral sensory seeker too. beacause I love to eat ice, but I've always heard it's because I have an iron deficency. oral sensory seeker sounds better unless you say it 3 times fast and I;m definatrly not that. What a cute picture of Kendal, she's such a sweetheart!

It just runs in the family. Will threatened me that if I ate ice in bed one more time...Well if I come up missing, check the mattress. There is nothing better than a 32 oz. mug of crushed ice from the cafe or Sandy's. I have also scoped out three places in Nephi that sell it as well. Tell her therapist that its genetics. My kids, Adri and Alissa, well you get the picture...

Puh-who cared if she wants to eat everything. At least she is "sensory seeking" and curious. Just know that she will be the high schooler whos tops of pens are completely chewed to oblivion. I think that pic of her is so dang cute. I would just squeeze her and pinch her if she wouldn't get so mad. I loved that she was all over Jared the other night. He thought that it was pretty cool! He said that it made him feel special that she actually wanted to be close to him.

Toe, I am glad we made Jared's night. She was loving him alot wasn't she?
The rest of you that are confessing of chewing ice, I also heard from a reliable source that it is a sign of frustration in the your love life!! That reliable source was a college roomie that didn't have much of a love life at the time!

no, Jen. Don't you remember, she would go through cups and cups of ice. I can still see very clearly her long fingernails dipping into a purple plastic cup for an ice cube.
