Not Sure if I Will Have Anymore Visitors

On Wednesday, Nov 21st I did a quick vacuum job before we left for Thanksgiving. I was vacuuming my bedroom last and my vacuum started making a strange noise. I put it away, hoping it was my imagination and that when I returned from eating turkey, that everything would be okay. Wrong. We came back from Thanksgiving on Sunday the 25th. Monday morning I got that vacuum out to see what happened. I cleaned the filters, checked the belt, checked all the hoses for clogs, but alas, I couldn't figure it out. I figured one of the bottom hoses had a hole in it and that is why I couldn't suck anything up. I called the Bissell Company and they gave me the phone number to a 'local' vacuum shop.
Friday, the 30th, the MASSIVE snow storm day, I took my sweet little Bissell to Orem to the vacuum man. I wanted him to fix it right then so I could take it home with me. I love my vacuum, well, not necessarily the vacuum itself, just what it accomplishes. I love a clean floor. My carpet is all stained and nasty, but that is beside the point. I vacuum every other day and it had been quite a few days since my vacuum had worked! I wanted to take my fixed vacuum home and get to work.

The vacuum man said it would take a few hours and looking at the cloud encrusted canyon, I decided not to stay in Orem for those few hours. I needed to get home before the snow came. TOO LATE! Provo Canyon was a snowy bear! But that is another story.
Anyway, I went to Orem today and got my vacuum back! It was a glorious moment. Kendal was so excited too. She loves to help mom vacuum. She had looked in the closet where the vacuum normally is during the past week and was so sad that it wasn't there. So before I even unloaded the Christmas treasures I bought at Target from the car, I vacuumed. It was so wonderful! I have been going around on my hands and knees for a week picking up the big pieces! And Kendal pulled over a 9" pot of calla lily and soil Monday, so it truly was glorious to hear the sound of debris collecting in my vacuum! These pictures show you how much 'Crane Debris' I picked up today. That baby was empty when I started today!!
When the occupational therapist came on Monday morning, 5 minutes after Kendal dumped the plant onto the carpet, she brought with her a sensory bin for Kendal. Her sensory bin was full of birdseed. Kendal loved playing in it, spooning it all over, hiding little toys in it, and even trying to crawl into it. The therapist is the lady that once told me my house was too clean. There is a post a while back that I wrote all about it. I got a little miffed at her bold statement! Anyway, she knew I was probably close to having a come apart with birdseed all over my house, so she brought a tablecloth to set out under Kendal. Thank Goodness! But there were still large quantities of millet and sunflower seed combo all over the carpet. I held my tongue and didn't tell her that I had not vacuumed for 13 days and that I was ready to have a break down because my vacuum was ill.
When I picked up my vacuum today, the vacuum man handed me a little red sack with this t-shirt in it. He said it was stuck in one of my hoses. I swear up and down that I had taken off and checked every single hose 4 times for clogs!! So, that sweet little Kelsey under shirt cost me 15 days of pure floor torture! I guess I better start looking behind the hamper a little better! I hope you are all still my friends after you have seen how disgusting my floor has been for 2 weeks!

You are so funny! My vacuume gets clogged all the time with little toys & hair elastics, but a shirt would have burnt my vacuume belt for sure! Your house always is cleaner than mine!

"Rachel's house is always cleaner because Rachel has no cable". For some demented reason that excuse makes me feel better about my crazy chaotic home even though I still have no time to watch cable during the day. In fact, I find very little time to watch it at night now. Although, I must confess I caught myself watching a re-run of MTV's "The Hills" at 8am before climbing out of bed.

I can soooooo relate to not being able to vaccum. Since all my kids moved out, I do not vaccum as much,,, but the few times it has broke down, I went into panic attacks. And you know, when you all come to visit, the minute you go outside, my vaccum comes out,,, nothing personal,,,it just drives me nuts until i hear that sweet sound. And Rach, Your house is always clean,,,, you don't have the dust us hicks in the sticks have.

I know, I am truly amazing to suck up a shirt and not know it, but still, it happened.
Thanks for clean vote of confidence from all. I do have a problem though, i know. But you can all see that I get my vacuum happiness from my mom. Thanks mom! No offense here, but whenever somebody leaves my house, the vacuum usually comes out too!

I did not get your vacuum fetish! Sorry, it probably would be a good thing though. I vacuum--just not three times a day. Then again--my house is not as spotless as both of yours!!

I totally understand how you feel!! My vacuum spent two weeks with the repair man and I made it about 3 days before I couldn't stand it anymore. I went to goodwill and bought a 1970's special for $19.99! With three dogs, two cats, and my husband I couldn't have made it two weeks without a vacuum. Good job!!!

Rachel, that shirt looks very familiar. I think you wore it in the summer when you walked with Ray-Ray around our neighborhood. Were you trying to show off your mid-section? Nice try..trying to blame that itsy bitsy top on your sweet Kelsey. Alas, you found it!

Amanda, thanks for letting the car out of the bag!! I didn't think anyone saw me except for the construction guys, and that is who I was trying to impress anyways!

Lindsay, thanks for saying you relate. Some people look at me funny when I tell them how much I vacuum! Tell Joe to pick up!!
